Traveling Modes and Devices was produced for both live performance and static exhibition. It was funded through a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The static show toured North America for two years under the auspices of the Western Association of Art Museums. The opening event of the tour was a performance at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution in October, 1979. While in Washington DC, Friends of the Rag were invited to the White House Halloween party.
